Since releasing “Hi, Still Here”, Conrad Clifton has been building anticipation for his forthcoming ‘IS IT YOU: Beat Tape (Full Circle)’, gaining support from GRUNGECAKE, Surviving the Golden Age, and others. Today he shares the vibey new single “dreambutdontsleep”.

Conrad delivers more funky and soulful production, while keeping things uptempo and fun. It’s the perfect track to tie the new album back to the previous ‘Get Your Whole Life’, which featured “Neva Seen (A Broken Heart)” - a tune that channels “strong J Dilla and Kaytranada vibes”, according to Magnetic Magazine.

Pulling together obscure samples from wildly different genres, Conrad weaves a sort of call-and-response, from section to section. We enter a “dream” sequence around the one minute mark - full of lush chords, airy vocals, and what sounds like heaven’s doorbell. Shortly after, we’re brought back to the urgency of the hustle - that energy that reminds us, “don’t sleep”. It’s self-motivation the artist wants to share with fans.

“This is the last song I made before wrapping up the album,” says Conrad. “I really wanted to include something familiar for my listeners, and this one is so much fun. But, it also has a unique element of emotion. I always try to give a range of feelings, throughout my songs - because that’s how life is, right? It’s never all good, or all bad. We just need to learn to be content with the wave, then maybe we can really start enjoying this rollercoaster.”
